Dermal filler is a gel-like substance that can be used to add contour, volume, or plump areas where lines have appeared in the skin due to ageing or scarring. This substance occurs naturally in the body, and when we begin to age our bodies produce less of it. This can lead to skin dehydration, lack of volume, drooping and deepening of wrinkles.
How long will my filler last?
Dermal fillers will last for 3-12 months, depending on a number of factors:
Your body’s ability to absorb the filler
The type of filler used
The area treated
Many clients undergo regular touch-up injections in order to maintain their new, rejuvenated appearance. If you do not have regular treatments, the area will return to its pre-treatment state.
What areas can be treated?
Dermal fillers are used to add volume, plump the skin and contour the face. Most areas of the face can be treated:
Lips
Cheeks
Marionette lines (from the nose to the mouth)
Chin
Glabella lines (between the eyebrows)
Non-surgical rhinoplasty
When will I see results?
Results are visible instantly, however there may be some swelling.
Will people know I have had treatment?
Our goal is to give you a more youthful, rejuvenated appearance. Our experienced practitioners avoid the “overdone” look that can make people look unnatural.
Is it painful?
Many of the products we use have a local anaesthetic blended with the product. We also have topical anaesthesia and other analgesics available for your comfort.
What are the risks associated with dermal fillers?
As with any medical treatment, there are always risks and side effects associated with treatment. Short term side effects can include:
Redness
Swelling
Pain and bruising at the injection site
Itching and tenderness at the injection site
These symptoms can be relieved with a cold compress, Paracetamol and anti-bruising cream.
If you suffer from cold sores, there is a higher risk of an outbreak post-treatment.
There is no evidence to date of any long-term safety concerns, as the body naturally metabolises the product over time.
Are Dermal fillers safe?
There are many different types and brands of Dermal filler available. Our Practitioners use only the brands that we know and trust, and are approved by the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration.
Is the treatment reversible?
The products we use are not permanent, and will wear off over time. There is also an injection available that will dissolve fillers within a few hours of treatment
Anti-wrinkle injections
What are anti-wrinkle injections?
Anti-wrinkle injections are made from a naturally occurring protein extract, ad is generally well-tolerated in the small levels administered for cosmetic use. Due to legal restrictions, we can not name the product/s we use or their ingredients, but the Doctor can discuss this with you at your consultation.
How do anti-wrinkle injections work?
A small amount of the product is injected into the muscles causing lines and wrinkles. Once the muscles are relaxed, the overlying lines and wrinkles in the skin may soften or reduce. The treatment takes around 15 minutes and is relatively pain free.
When will I notice results?
You may begin to notice results 2-3 days after your treatment, but the peak effect will be seen 10-21 days after treatment. If you decide not to continue your treatments, muscle activity will slowly return to normal.
How long will the results last?
The effects of your treatment will last approximately four months, but individual results do vary.
