An exciting new treatment option in Australia, this procedure works by injecting a medical superglue into the diseased vein. Once the vein is sealed, the body re-routes blood though nearby healthy veins!
Before the procedure your Doctor will discuss the risks and benefits of this procedure with you. You will also be referred for a venous mapping ultrasound, so that the procedure can be planned.
During the procedure a sonographer will be present so that your Doctor can accurately inject. A local anaesthetic will be injected and a catheter inserted into your leg to deliver the glue. You may feel some pressure from the placement of the catheter.
After the treatment the catheter will be removed, and a bandage placed at the injection site. You will be taken to a recovery area to rest.
